Parents or guardians who would like to enroll their children may do so by visiting the Salvation Army building at 1000 Oregon Street Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. Families interested in enrolling multiple children may talk with Mary Darnell, youth specialist for the Salvation Army of Muscatine County, about special pricing. Any children currently in kindergarten through sixth grade may enroll with a deposit of $25 and a payment of $80 each week of the program. Students will also take fieldtrips around the region to the Hauberg Museum at the Blackhawk State Historic Site in Rock Island, Illinois to learn about the Native Americans who lived in the region, as well as Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse (also in Rock Island), and Maquoketa Caves State Park in Maquoketa to enjoy some of the cultural and natural attractions eastern Iowa and nearby western Illinois have to offer. Once each week, a speaker who has immigrated to Muscatine will come and talk about their home country to kids, opening their eyes to places they may never have heard of before. This year’s Kids Zone Day Camp will have an all around the world theme and will invite children to explore both their own community and world cultures.
